Okay, we have 28 hours to finalise our classes.
I'm going to head to bed, someone bug WildPanthA05 and simonwolf to get in here and pick their class choices.
Also, Jack! Stop being indecisive and pick a class! Archer, Mage and Knight(Or Cavalier) are all good choices for now.
Chen, any idea what you want to play? You could still be a speed Myrmidon and rip shit up with Fiaryn and I, unless you think the basic team idea needs something else to cover a gap. I'll summarise again.
Myrmidon (swords, ripshitup) (Kay) Pirate (axes, ripshitup) (Fiaryn) Mage (Anima magic, Staffheal+Light Magic on promo) Shaman (Dark magic, anima on promo) (Fatal3RR0R) Archer or Nomad (bows) Knight or Cavalier (Lances, Axe on promo) (Swords for Cavalier, too)
Or maybe we should have a Knight and a Cavalier - I was thinking Cavalier for the dual weapon type, but we have a swordie (me!) already. Chen and Fiaryn seem to know the games better than anyone - what do you think of the proposed team members, and what would you change if anything?

Right now I'd really like to have a Knight and a Mage in the group. Also, on further inspection it appears Pirates start with a 3 Speed not a 4 so unmodified I AM at risk of getting double attacked. Contemplating being a Sandal Pirate for +1 Speed and Skill.

If it's no bother to the rest of you, I wouldn't mind taking the Knight.

HP is probably the last stat you want increased as it doesn't affect battle calculations. Statistically, in the long run, it's more beneficial to have +1 DEF than +1 HP, since the former decreases 1 damage with each successful hit. Not to mention that vulneraries only heal a measly 6 HP.
Secondly, I don't think SKL is going to matter that much in the early stages, even for axe users. Iron axes have 80% accuracy. The formula for Hit% is Weapon Hit + 5*Attacker SKL + Triangle Bonus (+/- 15) - 5*Defender SPD.
Let's say worst case scenario you encounter a myrmidon. Your Hit% would be 80+5*4-15-5*5=60 which isn't bad. Best case scenario, against a knight, your Hit% is 80+5*4+15-5*2=105. Against other Lance users it's 95 (+2 SPD) which is still very good. Even against a fellow Pirate your Hit% is 80+5*4-5*3=85.
This is of course without adding the +2 stat bonuses you get from the start. Even then they can only gain a max of +5 Evade, since LCK does not exist in this game, so only SPD affects Evade.
That's why Myrmidons are kind of a conundrum in this Phalla. There's no LCK, so they get no additional Hit% and Evade%, nor Critical Hit% and Critical Evade%. They can only use swords even after promotion, so they're predictable and easy to target, especially since they can't attack back. There are no terrain bonuses so they can't hide in a forest to increase their evade.
The upsides are the critical hit bonus after promotion and highest SPD, together with Thieves and Troubadours, among existing classes, thus more or less ensuring a double attack against most classes after a few level ups, which goes nicely with the critical hit bonus.
I love Swordmasters, I really do, but I think I'm going for the Mage, if only for the team and potential healing support after promotion.

Ok, don't scream at me but I have never played a FE game before ... after preliminary reading of everything I was considering a run at the Cavalier ... is that a good idea or is that entirely stupid?
GUIDE ME FELLOWS, GUIDE ME!
Also, holy fuck, the last page I read ... 6 hours ago, was page 13 ... YOU ARE ALL ON PAGE 39, WHAT THE FUCK HAVE YOU BEEN TALKING ABOUT?!

Actually Chen, look again. Each point of Skill counts for about two percent critical hit chance. With a 5 skill, Myrmidons are sitting on a 10% crit rate at game start. When they promote, they're going to have AT LEAST gotten one more point of Skill so they're looking at a 27% crit rate minimum. With a skill point each level, they'd have a 31% odds of crit per attack.
Skill is pretty handy for the crit-tastic classes.
Edit for WildPanthas: I'm not averse to a Cavalier. Given that they can use every single kind of melee weapon, and are mounted, they're pretty damn versatile.

Do i need to read the last 20 pages to catch anything important tonight, or can it wait for tomorrow?

It can wait. Just don't forget to declare your class before vote close tomorrow, and it's all good.

Okay, so, I'm going to declare as a Knight, seeing as how I've noticed no objections to this plan.

Well, that's where all my troubles begin - I can't decide if I should boost up my STR and DEF even more, to ensure my combat foothold, or if it'd be more tactical to boost one of my other stats, along with either STR or DEF.
As a side note, what region are we planning on starting in? Apologies if it's been mentioned already.

Probably starting in the center.
DEF DEFinitely sounds good! For your survival and the better blocking. Maybe boost speed too? So you don't get double-attacked?

I believe Ultros64 is interested in joining our noble HSFDF as a healer. Do we want to add another? We are getting fairly numerous.
If he joins, I'd like him to be the last member of our glorious company.
