They're actually pretty good, but not one of the easier teams to use. The have two player types that are pretty good in their own way, but no players that excel at handing the ball. Saurus are the big Strength 4 players (strength 4 is a big thing, most players are strength 3), and are decently fast. Skinks are VERY fast, and have the usual 'dodge/right stuff/stunty' skills that small races have, that make them hard to knock down, good at getting out of trouble, and allow them to ignore tackle zones when dodging. This is pretty huge. However, if they go down, they tend to break easy. Orcs are a VERY solid starting team. Not especially fast, but hugely durable, and the can start off with a player that has Sure Hands, which makes picking up and keeping hold of the ball pretty easy. There's a PA League just forming on FUMBBL, with a bunch of new people drawn in by the beta. You should maybe take a look! (You too, Jack. Count it as an apology for vigging me in the Nocturne phalla, you dick!) Awwww you found out! ...Blame Burnage! I checked FumBBL out and it looks awesome, do you need to order the box or is downloading the rulebook enough? I'd totally be down for a PA league. And how are Dark Elves?

Burnage didn't tell you to vig me, you told him you changed your target to me at the last minute! For no reason!
FumBBL is great. Technically, you're meant to own the game, but I doubt many of the people on there do, and it's virtually impossible to find now. Just snag the (free to download and totally legal) Live Rulebook version 4, I think it is, and get started!
Dark Elves are one of the teams that start slow, and get very, very good once you can afford positional players. I'd probably start with 11 Linemen, and as much FF and as many rerolls as possible, and buy the positional players as you earn cash, though if you can somehow wangle it to start off with a Blitzer, that is awesome too. Dark Elves don't need as many rerolls as say, Humans, because of their high Agility.

Sacred Stones question - what does the weight of a weapon effect? I'm assuming number of swings/speed somehow, but... is it something to do with Con, like carrying people? (Or is that Aid, I forget.)

Weight influences swing speed, whether you can double attack or not, as well as your Avoid rate while wielding it.

Hmm. Maybe giving Vanessa that Steel Lance wasn't that great an idea.
I just checked to see who had the weaponskill to wield steel weapons, and of those, who had enough Skill to still hit.
Whups.

I think the only Pegasus Knight in the game that's not utterly utterly awful is Tana.
Utterly awful.
So awful.
Terribad even.
Fuck Pegasus Knights.
Also I'm beginning my new run of Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn. I'm contemplating playing Radiant Dawn on Normal again but...aggghh. Radiant Dawn is easily the most ball bustingly difficult Fire Emblem I've yet played, and this is despite it giving you the ability to save mid-battle. D:

When you don't have many units, and you need a fast scout, the Pegasus Knight can be a little useful, at least! And she has pretty animations...
So, got back to chapter 6 on my restart, blitzed it without much trouble (christ Novala hits like a truck), and my guys are way, way higher level than they were initially. And Lute is awesome.

Lute and Artur become...preposterous once upgraded. See, Artur becomes a Bishop. Bishops do X2 damage to ALL monster type units (and have access to staves!), on top of Light being advantageous against them to begin with.
What I'm saying is, Artur is an unstoppable war machine against monster type enemies (one shotting undead dragons is fun) when upgraded. Having an A support with Lute only makes it more unfair.

That was gonig to bring me to my next question - who should I be promoting, into what, and when?

13-15 is the general window. I wait as long as possible because I'm obsessive like that.
As for promotions:
Tana - Wyvern <Whatever>. The one that gets Pierce
Cormag - Same
Franz - Great Knight
Gilliam - General
Artur - Bishop
Lute - Saga
Colm - Assassin
Neimi - Sniper
Joshua - Swordmaster
Gerik - Hero
Ross - Pirate, then Berserker
Ewan - Shaman, then Druid
Don't think I'm forgetting anyone relevant. Ephraim and Eirika promote waaay later automatically, and will probably be level 20 when they do.

Thank you for input! So the less-good-at-the-start guys, like Ross, Colm and Neimi, should be levelled up in the Tower of Veini or whatever it's called, right?

And Ewan. A good tactic is to have like, group of four of your beefiest units, strip them of all their weapons so they don't counter attack and kill everything, and have them move to surround the weak guy when possible.

Again, noted! But today I have to get both Hugo and Chris to the Flame Champion's Hideaway, then use the shit out of Geddoe with his True Lightning and Thunder runes.

*insert bitching about how terrible Chris is here*
It's a pity you get to use the True Lightning Rune for such a short period of time. But when you do get to use it...
It's so dreamy. *sigh*

Wait wait. Why can't you use it again? I thought that I could pick anyone I wanted in my party from Chapter 4 onwards. Will Chris and Geddoe be locked out if I pick Hugo as the champeen?
