Tower of Valni, clear everything out except the boss, put the people with supports next to each other, end turn until you get a support conversation option, I am assuming? Bingo, Kay's got it. It's real bloody easy this way. You can only get one Support convo between a pair per battle, so you have to do it a few times. Also yes fuck those not-Fury-Rune-dropping assholes it took me forever.

I have been doing this for 40 minutes. I am losing patience, which is apt, considering the Runes I'm trying to farm.

So, am I a bad person for intending to use somewhat more non-standard supports?

The only thing I understand about supports is how to raise them.
Do all of them just boost critical chance, or does each one do something different?

Each one does something different. In my experience ideal ones are:
To have Tana get an A level with Ephraim and a B with Cormag. With both dudes in range, she has something like a 30% crit rate with a simple Steel Lance this way. Also, promote Tana to a Wyvern Lord/Rider/Whatever it is. She becomes pretty solid that way. Pegasus Knights are terribad.
To have Ewan and Ross get an A level support
Joshua and Gerik.
Artur and Lute.
Colm and Neimi

I often have Franz and Gilliam support out of a lack of anyone better to pair them off with.

That's pretty much my sentiment on Gilliam. He's kind of "blah" at first, but once you get him to about level 15 and promote him to a General he becomes much better. Furthermore, later on you get a unit named Tethys. Tethys is the infamous Dancer type character. Every Fire Emblem seems to have one of these, a character with no combat ability whatsoever but the ability to allow someone to take a second turn.
Have her trail along behind Gilliam and he will crush faces. And basically be completely invincible.

That does sound tasty.
Since I dropped Seth after starting over, wow. Eirika is better (actually has some strength now) and is in danger of becoming another Seth at Level 7 - as in someone that mops up huge clumps of aggro and then kills them all, but more due to her huge speed that anything else.
Franz, on the other hand, seems much more balanced and hits like a truck. And takes little damage in return. I like Franz.
So Garcia turns out shit? Pity, I like Garcia.
Any particular level I should promote particular people? 10 for Priests/Troubador so they at least get an attack?
Oh, and WD,DBM's sigpic looks like Franz, but is not Franz. Odd, that.

To be honest, I just use Moulder and Natasha as healers as they are and never promote them. Why? Because Artur and Lute, who are both FANTASTIC casters both get access to Staves when they promote as a Bishop and Sage respectively. After that I ditch the shit out of both Moulder and Natasha.
My general window for promoting is 13-15. Eirika and Ephraim will automatically promote at a certain point in the story, for the record. Also: Be sure to turn Franz into a Great Knight rather than a Paladin. He's well suited to the versatility of the class (it has access to all three weapon types and is in general beefy).
EDIT: WARNING
There is a point in this game where Ephraim and Eirika split up and you have to choose whether to play the game with Ephraim or Eirika as the focus. As such, don't leave any promotion items or stat booster items you plan to use in either of their inventories! Stick that shit in the supply wagon so you're not in danger of losing it when you make the choice!

Any thoughts on how to use the perm stat booster items? I've just been saving mine. Wait until max level and see who didn't reach a cap? lol

Yeah I just kind of wait and see if anyone has any holes in their stat line that need to be addressed and apply as necessary.

Gotcha. The party's looking way better already, so I don't think I'll bother cheesing out on the Arena, I'll wait for the Tower.
Don't get to play FE:SS as much as Suikoden 3, but maybe I'll have an evening of DS rather than PS2 tonight.
Also, Fiaryn. Bloodbowl and Necromunda are, in my opinion, the best things Games Workshop ever released, along with Warhammer Quest. If you do want to learn how to play, we could play a few practice games without locking ourselves into team development (dead players don't stay dead, no star player points are gained, etc) I think, until you felt confident enough to play other PAers? I think people are migrating back to FUMBBL because it's just set out better than the Cyanide game, from what people saw of the beta.

I never played Bloodbowl or Warhammer Quest but I can speak for Necromunda and Mordheim--they're awesome if you get a campaign going, and much cheaper than Warhammer or 40k.
